Vintage Crooksville Burley and Winter Pottery Company Brownware Pitcher with (10) Mugs. Made between 1892 and 1915. Pitcher and mugs feature a man smoking a pipe on one side and a windmill on the other. Pitcher is 8 1/2" tall and 8" from spout to handle. Mugs are 4 5/8" tall and 4 5/8" across. Glazing defects are present, typical of pottery from this era. Crazing is visible on a couple of mugs. Ten mugs included, some showing age and usage marks. Marked on the bottom with the encircled heart and Burley Winter Pottery Co. Crooksville. This item is from an estate and appears to have been stored for many years. See pictures for details. Burley Potteries in Crooksville, Ohio, was purchased by John Burley in 1825 and rebuilt in 1831 after a fire in 1828. Operated until 1885. Lazalier Burley operated Bluebird Pottery at his home from 1846 to 1860. William Burley and Wilson were also involved.
